Beaver Creek, located outside of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, has one happy bunch of black bears. A few of the young male Beaver Creek Bears fancy themselves as aspiring photographers. As a result, the bears often reposition the cameras for better bear photography, for the Beaver Creek Bears believe they are significantly better at bear photography, and proper camera angle selection, than we are.
As these short video clips reveal, the Beaver Creek Bears are frequently correct in that regard. We shall see what kind of entertaining bear photography the Beaver Creek Bears provide us in the upcoming 2026 Bear Year.
The following videos show 2025 Beaver Creek newcomer, Rascal, trying his paw at bear photography. Rascal, as shown, has a very dark snout. Much clearer images of Rascal acquired in better lighting reveal that Rascal has bluish fur.
The following videos show that Dewey, one of the 2019 Triplets, has a game camera fetish. In May 2025, Dewey went on a camera pawing and mauling spree, and had four confirmed camera kills. This led us to leave several malfunctioning cameras up along Beaver Creek to serve as decoys for Dewey to fuddle and muddle with.
Our results were middling, but Dewey's camera kill rate did dissipate. Of course, that could have simply been the result of mating season arriving...for Dewey fancies himself quite the ladies bear.
For those interested in foraging and mushrooms, our exquisite bride, Hunter, has an online store with various mushroom products - The Mushroom Lover.
We recommend Hunter's Porcini Rub, which is sublime seasoning when cooking or grilling rib eye steaks. And Hunter's children's book, Where The Mushrooms Are, is a fun way to get your toddlers interested in nature and everything interwald.

After a camera kill, Dewey often taunts us by laying in front of the downed camera and showing his teeth or claws. Camera fussing is a stage in life most young male bears grow out of eventually with age.
